Why book a multi-day driver instead of a daily transfer

Most arriving guests think they need a transfer. Then they get to Labuan Bajo and realise they need a driver.

Komodo is a yacht-and-island destination on the water — but the Flores mainland behind it is one of the most photogenic landscapes in Indonesia, and most of it is unreachable without a private vehicle. Wae Rebo’s traditional cone houses sit at the end of a 4-hour drive from Labuan Bajo plus a 3-hour hike. Cunca Wulang waterfall is a 90-minute drive each way. Rangko Cave requires a 30-minute drive plus a short boat ride. Cancar’s spider-web rice fields, the Liang Bua Hobbit cave, the Bena traditional village — all are day-trips that begin and end at your hotel lobby.

For trips like these, you do not want to hire and re-hire a driver every morning. You want one driver, one vehicle, one consistent standard, for the duration of your stay. That is what our multi-day driver package gives you.

The package also solves the airport problem at both ends — your driver picks you up at LBJ on day one and drops you back on the final day. No separate airport-transfer booking, no handoff between vehicles.

How the multi-day package works

A “day” in our package is 8 hours, calculated from the time the driver picks you up in the morning. Most guests run 09:00-17:00 with a midday lunch break. You can flex the start and end time within reason — 07:00-15:00 for a sunrise-Padar trip, 11:00-19:00 for a sunset-Bukit-Cinta evening.

What is included in the day rate:

Vehicle (Innova / Hiace / Alphard, your choice)
Driver (English-speaking, briefed on your itinerary the night before)
All fuel
All parking and tolls
Bottled water for the cabin (4 small bottles per pax per day, replenished)
Cold towels in the morning and after long stops
Wi-Fi hotspot (Hiace and Alphard only — Innova does not have onboard Wi-Fi)
Driver lunch and break costs (we cover this — you do not need to feed the driver)

What is not included:

Park entry fees (Komodo NP, Wae Rebo village fee, Liang Bua, etc. — these are paid directly at each site)
Activities (boat charter, dive trip, paragliding, etc.)
Your own meals and accommodation
Overnight stops outside Labuan Bajo (see “Multi-stop Flores trips” below)

Multi-day discount (3+ consecutive days):

– Hiace: $16 per additional hour

Overnight outside Labuan Bajo (driver lodging in remote areas):
– $25 / IDR 410K per night driver allowance (covers driver’s accommodation and dinner in places like Ruteng, Bajawa, Maumere, where they stay overnight to handle multi-stop Flores routes)

The five most-booked multi-day itineraries

We have run multi-day driver packages for thousands of guests since 2015. These five itineraries account for roughly 70% of all multi-day bookings.

1. The Flores Mainland 3-Day (most popular)

Day 1: LBJ airport pickup → hotel → afternoon at Bukit Sylvia or Bukit Cinta sunset viewpoint
Day 2: Wae Rebo cone-houses (full-day, 4-hour drive each way + 3-hour hike — long day, brutal-but-worth-it)
Day 3: Cunca Wulang waterfall + Mirror Stone + airport drop-off

Vehicle: Innova ($90 × 3 = $270, less 5% multi-day discount = $256)

2. The Yacht-and-Mainland 5-Day

Day 1: LBJ pickup → marina handoff to phinisi yacht (book the yacht charter transfer for this leg)
Days 2-3: On the boat (driver stands down — billed only on land days)
Day 4: Yacht returns → driver picks you up at marina → Cunca Wulang waterfall + Rangko Cave
Day 5: Cancar rice fields + Liang Bua + airport drop

Vehicle: Hiace ($130 × 3 land days = $390, less 5% discount = $370). The two yacht days are not billed.

3. The Photo-Tour 4-Day (Alphard)

Day 1: LBJ pickup with meet-and-greet → hotel → sunset at Bukit Cinta
Day 2: Sunrise Padar (boat-hire, separate booking) → afternoon Pink Beach (boat continues) → driver receives you at Marina Bayview at 17:00 → Bukit Sylvia for sunset
Day 3: Spider-web rice fields at Cancar (early morning, golden hour) → Wae Rebo (overnight stay, driver lodges in Ruteng)
Day 4: Wae Rebo morning shoot → drive back to LBJ → airport drop

Vehicle: Alphard ($260 × 4 = $1,040, less 5% discount = $988, plus $25 overnight allowance = $1,013)

4. The Wedding Group 7-Day

5+ vehicles, multi-pickup at hotels, transit between resort and ceremony venue, transit to/from yacht charters and marina photoshoots. We coordinate this through our wedding transfer service — please email sales@komodoluxury.com for a custom quote.

5. The Dive 6-Day

Day 1: LBJ → hotel → marina recon for next-morning dive boat → Diver transfer service protocols
Days 2-5: Dive days — driver picks you up from hotel at 06:00 each morning, runs you to Marina Bayview, picks you up at 16:30, returns to hotel; on rest days, drives to Cunca Rami waterfall or Mirror Stone
Day 6: Airport drop-off

Vehicle: Hiace ($130 × 6 = $780, less 8% discount = $718)

Bundle with airport transfer for round-trip discount

If your multi-day driver package includes pickup from LBJ on day one and drop-off at LBJ on the final day, you are effectively booking a round-trip airport transfer inside the package — which qualifies for the 10% round-trip discount on the airport-transfer side.

The math, for a 4-day Innova booking with airport bundled:
– 4 × $90 day rate = $360
– Less 5% multi-day discount = $342
– Round-trip airport bundling: counts as Day 1 + Day 4, no additional charge — already inside day rate
– Net: $342 for 4 days plus both airport transfers

Compare against booking each piece separately:
– 4 × daily driver = $360
– 1 × Zone A airport pickup = $25
– 1 × Zone A airport drop = $25
– Total: $410 — without the bundling discount

You save $68 by bundling. We do this automatically when you book through our form — you do not need to ask for it.

Why this is different from a Grab / Gojek / kerb-taxi day rental

Grab and Gojek do not offer multi-day driver hire. The kerb-taxis at LBJ will quote you a day rate, but it is almost always negotiated, almost always changes during the day, and almost always involves a driver who does not speak the language you do. The multi-day driver model is also not the same as a “day tour with driver” booking through Viator or GetYourGuide. Those are fixed-itinerary group packages with set start and end points. Our multi-day driver is your driver and your vehicle for the duration of the booking — you set the route, you set the timing, you stop where you want to stop, you pivot the plan if it rains.

For honeymoon and luxury bookings, we frequently combine the multi-day driver with our komodo day tour with transfer on selected days — turning the same Alphard and same driver into a “yacht morning, mainland afternoon” rolling itinerary.

How to book your multi-day driver

The booking process is the same as our standard transfer:

FAQ — multi-day driver bookings

Can I change my itinerary after I have booked?
Yes. Up to 24 hours before each day, you can adjust the day’s route. The driver is your driver — you are not on a fixed group tour.

Does the day rate include the driver’s lunch?
Yes. We absorb the driver’s meal and break costs. You do not need to buy them lunch (though many guests do — Indonesian roadside warung culture is a big part of the experience).

What if I need an extra hour at the end of the day?
The hourly extension applies — $12/$16/$30 per additional hour for Innova/Hiace/Alphard. Tell the driver before the 8th hour ends and they will let dispatch know.

Can two different drivers cover my multi-day booking?
We assign one primary driver for continuity. If they have an unavoidable schedule conflict on day 4 or 5, we substitute a senior driver from our roster — same standard, briefed on your itinerary in advance. This is rare.

Can I extend the booking by an extra day mid-trip?
Yes, subject to driver availability. WhatsApp dispatch as soon as you know — same-day extensions are usually fine in low season, harder in July-August peak.
