Komodo Day Tour with Airport Transfer
For guests with three days in Komodo and a tight schedule. We pair your LBJ airport pickup with a full-day Komodo three-island tour: Padar viewpoint at sunrise, Pink Beach mid-morning, Komodo dragon trek before lunch. From $180 per person.
The “I have three days in Komodo” problem
The most common Komodo itinerary among arriving travellers is also the tightest: three days, two nights, and a long list of things to fit inside it.
Day 1 is the airport. Day 3 is the airport going home. That leaves Day 2 as the only working day on the ground — and Day 2 is where most travellers panic-book a generic Viator boat trip from their hotel concierge desk for $180 a head, only to discover that the boat is shared with thirty other guests, that the schedule does not include sunrise on Padar, and that the Komodo dragon walk is a 90-minute queue at peak hours.
We built the day-tour-with-transfer service to fix that pattern. The booking combines your airport pickup, your private day-tour boat, and your airport drop-off into one continuous itinerary. The same operations team that has been driving the LBJ-to-Marina-Bayview run for ten years also crews the day-tour boat. The same fixed-USD pricing that applies to the transfer applies to the tour.
This is not a marketplace listing. It is the same level of considered logistics applied to the day-trip portion of your Komodo experience.
The classic three-island Komodo route
The 95% case for our day tour is the standard three-island Padar / Pink Beach / Komodo dragon trek — also called the “Padar-Komodo-Pink” route. This is what 90% of arriving travellers come to Komodo to see.
05:30 — Hotel pickup. Driver collects you from your hotel (AYANA Komodo, Plataran Komodo, Meruorah Komodo, or wherever you are staying). Coffee and pastry waiting in the cabin. Drive to Marina Bayview (12-25 minutes depending on hotel zone).
06:00 — Boat departure from Marina Bayview Pier 2. The boat is a 12-passenger speedboat — fast enough to cover the three islands without losing daylight. Kept private to your booking; you do not share with strangers.
07:30 — Padar Island viewpoint. This is the postcard shot. You climb the Padar ridge for roughly 25 minutes; reach the lookout for the view of three crescent-shaped beaches. Golden hour lasts about 90 minutes — we time the boat to put you at the trailhead at 07:30 for the best light.
09:30 — Pink Beach. The pink coloration is from crushed red coral mixed with white sand. You swim, snorkel, walk the beach for an hour. Coffee and snack on the boat. The crowd is light at this hour because most generic group tours arrive after 11:00.
11:30 — Komodo Island ranger station. This is the dragon trek. Komodo National Park rangers walk you on a 60-minute loop through the dragon habitat. Last year the park introduced a 1,000-visitor-per-day quota with three sessions; we book your slot in the morning session, before the queues build.
13:00 — Lunch on the boat. Bento-box style with grilled chicken or vegetarian option, fresh fruit, water. Eaten at anchor near Manjarite reef.
14:00 — Optional snorkel stop. Manjarite or Karang Makassar (manta point in season) — depending on tide and current. Manta sightings most reliable December-March.
15:30 — Return to Marina Bayview.
16:30 — Driver receives you at marina, drives to your hotel. Cold towel and water on board.
Total elapsed: 11 hours. You are back at your hotel by 17:00 with the entire day’s must-do list ticked off.
Day-tour-with-transfer variants
Not every guest wants the full Padar-Komodo-Pink loop. We run four variants based on what you came for.
Variant A — The Full Three-Island (default)
The route described above. $180/pax in a group of 4-6, $220/pax for a couple, $280/pax solo. Best for first-timers and photographers.
Variant B — Manta Ray Focus (December-March)
Less time on Padar, more time at Karang Makassar manta point. Adds a backup site at Mawan Reef. Same boat, same pickup. $200/pax in a group of 4-6.
Variant C — Photographer’s Sunrise Padar
Earlier start (04:30 hotel pickup), boat at 05:00 to be on the Padar ridge at 06:00 for the absolute first light. Skips Komodo dragon trek for a longer stay on Padar and a stop at Bukit Cinta on the way back. $220/pax — Alphard transfer, premium boat. Best for honeymoons and serious photo guests.
Variant D — Half-Day Pink Beach + Padar
Skips Komodo dragon trek entirely. Useful for guests with kids who do not want the trek, or guests on a connecting flight in the late afternoon. 06:00-13:00 only. $130/pax in a group of 4-6, $170/pax for a couple. Drop-off at airport possible (this becomes the airport-out leg).
For Variants C and D, please book at least 48 hours in advance — boat-and-driver scheduling on early-morning routes is tighter than the standard.
Pricing — day tour with transfer
Pricing covers the boat, fuel, captain, snorkel gear, light breakfast, lunch, water, and the airport-transfer legs at both ends of your stay. Komodo National Park entry fees are separate (paid at the ranger station: roughly IDR 350K per person for international guests, IDR 50K for domestic).
| Variant | Per pax (group 4-6) | Couple (2 pax) | Solo |
|---|---|---|---|
| A — Full three-island | $180 | $220 | $280 |
| B — Manta focus | $200 | $240 | $300 |
| C — Photographer’s sunrise | $220 (Alphard, premium boat) | $260 | $340 |
| D — Half-day Pink + Padar | $130 | $170 | $220 |
Bundled airport transfers at both ends are included in these prices. You are not paying separately for the LBJ pickup or the airport drop-off — both are inside the package.
If you want to upgrade the airport leg to an Alphard for a honeymoon or to add LBJ fast-track immigration, we add those at standard rates.
Partnership with Komodo Luxury — the boat side
The day-tour boat is operated by our sister brand komodoluxury.com. They run the largest private day-tour fleet out of Marina Bayview — 18 speedboats and 4 phinisi day-charters. The boat captains are on Komodo Luxury’s payroll; the drivers and dispatchers are on ours.
The integration matters because the airport-transfer side and the boat side share a single dispatcher. When your boat is delayed by 15 minutes returning to Marina Bayview, your airport-side driver is already informed and adjusts the hotel-pickup window accordingly. When your inbound flight is delayed, the boat captain knows before you do, and we shift your day-tour to the following day if needed without rebooking through three different vendors.
For multi-day yacht charters (2-7 nights on a phinisi liveaboard, not a single day-trip), see our yacht charter transfer service and book the vessel directly through Komodo Luxury.
Adding the day tour to an existing transfer booking
If you have already booked a round-trip airport transfer with us and are now thinking about the day tour, you do not need to cancel and rebook. WhatsApp our dispatcher at +62 811 3810 8110 and we will add the tour to your existing booking.
The math: your existing round-trip transfer at Zone A is $50 ($25 each way). The day tour is $180/pax. Combined as a package, we offer the bundle at $200 for the first guest and $160 for each additional guest in the same booking — meaning a couple gets the full transfer-plus-day-tour combo for $360 instead of the $440 it would cost as separate bookings.
What you tell us when you book
For a day-tour-with-transfer booking, please include in the notes:
- Inbound flight number and arrival time (so we can time your hotel arrival on Day 1)
- Hotel name (the day-tour pickup is from your hotel, so we need to confirm zone)
- Departure flight number and time (so we can confirm the airport-out leg)
- Day-tour variant preference (A / B / C / D — or “advise me”)
- Group size (affects per-pax pricing)
- Any specific requests — sunrise photo priority, manta-ray focus, child-friendly preference, vegetarian lunch, etc.
The booking opens a WhatsApp thread with our dispatcher who will lock the timing the night before each day.
FAQ — day tour with transfer
Is the boat private to my booking, or shared with other guests?
Private. The boat does not pick up other guests at Marina Bayview while yours is waiting. This is a key differentiator from most generic group day tours.
What happens if the weather is bad on tour day?
We monitor swell and wind 48 hours out. If conditions are unsafe (rare in Komodo, but happens 3-4 times a year mostly during peak rainy-season squalls in February), we move the tour to the following day at no extra cost. If you do not have a flexible day, we credit the tour portion of the booking and run only the transfer legs.
Can we extend the day tour to a sunset return instead of 16:30?
Yes — Variant E adds a Bukit Cinta sunset stop on the boat return for an extra $30/pax. Tell us in the booking notes.
Are park entrance fees included?
No. Komodo National Park entry is paid directly at the ranger station — IDR 350K (~$22) per international guest, plus a small ranger guide fee. We do not mark this up.
Can we combine the day tour with a multi-day driver package?
Yes. See our multi-day driver package. The day tour can be slotted as Day 2 of a 3-5 day Flores mainland itinerary.
What about overnight on a phinisi instead of a day tour?
That is a different product — see yacht charter transfer and book the phinisi directly through komodoluxury.com.
