Why spend a land day in Labuan Bajo
Most visitors treat Labuan Bajo as a harbour: fly in, board a boat, fly out. That is a shame, because the hills behind town hide caves, a waterfall and villages that need no boat ticket and no national park permit. We drive these roads every day — the same cars and drivers that handle our airport transfers run the city tour between pickups.
One practical point up front: every stop on this tour sits outside Komodo National Park, so the park entry fee does not apply here. What you pay on the ground are small site entrance fees, collected at the gate by the villages that manage them.
Half-day or full day — and an honest word about the map
A half-day, morning or afternoon, fits two to three stops: Batu Cermin plus Goa Rangko, or Cunca Wulang plus Melo, or Batu Cermin plus a sunset hill. A full day fits three main stops and ends on a ridge for sunset.
Goa Rangko and Cunca Wulang lie in different directions out of town. A full day fits three stops and the sunset comfortably; squeezing in all five makes a rushed, road-heavy day, and if you ask us to plan it that way we will say so before you commit.
How pickup works
We collect from any hotel in and around town. From our own pickup logs, Ayana Komodo, Meruorah, Katamaran and Sudamala are the most common starting points — Ayana is about fifteen minutes south of town, Meruorah sits right in the marina.
We can also start the tour straight from the airport if you land in the morning: luggage rides with us, and we drop you at your hotel at the end of the day. That combination suits travellers who board a boat the next morning.
What the Day Costs
Fuel and the driver are included in the car price; lunch is not, and your driver knows which warungs are worth the stop. Carry small cash in rupiah for the gates and the Rangko boat — there are no card machines in the villages.

Where the Day Goes
The tour is private, so the route is yours. These are the stops we run most often — tell us what you care about and we shape the day around it.
01Batu Cermin — the Mirror Cave
The closest stop to town. In late morning sunlight drops through a gap in the rock and bounces off the walls. A local guide with a torch walks you through; allow about an hour, and wear shoes you can scramble in.
02Goa Rangko — the honest version
A sea cave with a turquoise saltwater pool. It cannot be reached by road: we drive about an hour to Rangko village, then a small village boat carries you across. Sheltered water, but the boatmen have the final say in wind or swell. Bring swimwear.
03Cunca Wulang waterfall
A canyon waterfall about ninety minutes inland, reached by a guided walk of thirty to forty-five minutes each way. Deep green pools to swim in. The most physical stop of the tour; in the wet months guides may keep swimmers out of the gorge.
04Melo village
A hill village on the Trans-Flores road, known for the Caci whip dance performed by arrangement, and for a wide view back over the bay. Tell us when you book: the village needs notice to gather the dancers.
05Sunset at Bukit Cinta or Sylvia Hill
Full-day tours end on a hill. Both look west over the bay; your driver picks the one that suits the day’s light and the crowds, then drops you at your hotel or a harbour-front restaurant.

No. That fee applies once per trip to visits inside Komodo National Park. Every city-tour stop — Batu Cermin, Goa Rangko, Cunca Wulang, Melo and the sunset hills — sits outside the park. You only pay small local entrance fees collected at each gate.
02 Is the boat to Goa Rangko included in the tour price?
The drive to Rangko village is included. The short crossing to the cave is run by the village boatmen and paid locally at the jetty; we confirm the current amount on WhatsApp before you go, so you carry the right cash.
03 Can we change the stops?
Yes. The tour is private, so the route is yours. Common swaps: skipping the cave for longer at the waterfall, adding a hill-coffee stop, or trading Melo for an earlier sunset. Tell us what you care about and we shape the day around it.
04 Is the tour suitable for children or older travellers?
Batu Cermin, Melo and the sunset hills, yes. Cunca Wulang involves thirty to forty-five minutes of walking on uneven ground each way, and Goa Rangko needs a step from the jetty into a small boat. Tell us who is coming and we will recommend the route honestly.
05 Can the tour start straight from the airport?
Yes. If you land in the morning we meet you at Komodo Airport arrivals, keep your luggage in the car, run the tour and drop you at your hotel at the end. It is a popular way to use an arrival day before a boat departure.
