Airport Transport Guide
Every transport option from Komodo Airport (LBJ) compared honestly — so you choose the right one for your trip.
LBJ is 3–4 km from the Labuan Bajo waterfront. The options — private car, shared shuttle, zone-tariff taxi, ojek, and rental — each have genuine use cases and real trade-offs. Here is what you need to know.
Your transport options from Komodo Airport compared
Pre-booked private transfer — our service. A named driver meets you with a sign, assists with luggage, and takes your party directly to your destination at a confirmed price covering driver, fuel, and waiting time for delays. The clear choice for groups, tight boat connections, and heavy dive gear. Pricing starts from around IDR 300,000 per vehicle for the airport-to-town run.
Airport taxis run on a posted zone tariff from a rank outside arrivals. Reasonable for solo travellers with a single bag at quiet times; the queue depletes fast when multiple flights land together. Shared shuttles run to fixed town points at low per-person cost but wait to fill and make multiple stops — not reliable if you have a strict boat check-in. Ojek (motorbike taxis) suit solo travellers with a backpack only. Car and scooter rentals are available at the terminal for independent multi-day Flores exploration.
Why a private transfer is the right call for most visitors
LBJ has one arrivals hall, one carousel, and one exit. When morning flights stack up, every option except a pre-booked transfer becomes unpredictable. A private transfer means your driver is there for you specifically, your price is fixed, and you leave the moment you are ready. For two or more passengers, the per-person cost often compares well against shared alternatives once waiting time is factored in. It matters most in four scenarios: connecting to a liveaboard with a fixed departure, arriving at night, travelling with children or heavy equipment, and arriving in July–August peak season.
Every booking includes flight tracking. If your flight from Bali or Jakarta is delayed, your driver adjusts automatically with no additional charge — no calls needed. This is standard on every transfer we take.
Connecting from the airport to your boat or liveaboard
The harbour piers are approximately 4 km from LBJ — 10–15 minutes by road. Most liveaboard check-ins use one of several designated pier locations; knowing which pier your boat uses before you land avoids kerbside confusion. Our airport-to-harbour transfer includes a harbour coordination brief: the driver confirms your boat name, pier location, and check-in procedure before you leave the terminal. For liveaboard guests with dive cases and camera equipment, a full-size vehicle with luggage room is provided.
The typical routing for most international guests is: fly to Bali, overnight in Bali, fly LBJ the following morning, private transfer to the harbour, board for a midday departure. Our team handles every transfer step — including a Bali airport meet-and-greet if your international arrival is rushed.

Ask the Concierge01 How much does transport from Komodo Airport cost?
Private transfers start from around IDR 300,000 per vehicle for the airport-to-town or harbour run, rising with vehicle class and distance. Airport taxis use a posted zone tariff. Shared shuttles are the lowest per-person option. All pricing is in Indonesian Rupiah.
02 Are there Grab or Gojek in Labuan Bajo?
Both apps have limited, inconsistent availability in Labuan Bajo. For airport connections with luggage or a tight boat check-in, a pre-booked transfer is far more reliable.
03 Can I rent a car or scooter at Komodo Airport?
Yes. Rental desks operate at and near the terminal. An Indonesian driving licence or international permit is required. Roads are manageable for experienced riders, though inland routes are hilly and narrow.
04 Do you offer transport to the harbour for liveaboard boats?
Yes — airport-to-harbour is one of our most common routes. Share your boat name and departure time when you book and we coordinate pier location, timing, and luggage handling.
