What the airport is like at night
Komodo Airport (LBJ) serves one town, and it feels that way in the best sense: a compact terminal, a short walk from the aircraft, and luggage delivered fast. After the last scheduled arrivals the building winds down quickly — the ad-hoc taxi options that linger through the daytime thin out in the evening, and there is no late-night transport rank to fall back on. That is the honest reason to pre-book: not because the drive is difficult, but because a night arrival is exactly when you do not want to negotiate a ride from an empty kerb.
Evening arrivals are also, in our experience, the ones most likely to be running late. Most Labuan Bajo flights connect through Bali, and delays stack up through the day — a scheduled dusk landing can easily become a night one. - Straight to the hotel. At night there is no traffic to speak of; even the furthest of the main hotels is around a quarter of an hour away.

- Connectivity: the phone-counter situation late in the evening is not something to rely on. Load an eSIM before you fly, or plan on hotel Wi-Fi for the first night; signal in town itself is fine.
