Labuan Bajo 3-Day Itinerary: One Day on Land, One at Sea, One Overland
August 24, 2026 · Komodoairporttransfer Editorial Desk

Three days covers Labuan Bajo properly: one day exploring the town and its caves by car, one full day on a boat inside Komodo National Park, and one overland day in the Flores hills. Budget around USD 95 (±IDR 1,500,000) per day for a car with an English-speaking driver-guide, plus the USD 40 national park fee, paid once per trip.
The plan at a glance
We run the airport pickups and touring cars in this itinerary every week, so this is not a theoretical plan — it is the shape most well-planned short visits already take. Land days belong to us; the sea day belongs to our parent company, Komodo Luxury, with our car delivering you to the harbour on time.
| Day | Focus | How you travel | Booked with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrival + Labuan Bajo city tour: Batu Cermin cave, the harbour, sunset viewpoint | Private car with driver-guide | Komodo Airport Transfer |
| Day 2 | Komodo National Park by sea: dragons, Padar, snorkelling stops | Boat, with our harbour transfer at both ends | Boat: Komodo Luxury · ground legs: us |
| Day 3 | Overland into the hills: Melo village, Cunca Wulang waterfall | Private car with driver-guide | Komodo Airport Transfer |
Day 1 — arrival and the city tour
Komodo Airport sits practically on top of the town, which is why day one works even with a mid-morning landing. Your driver meets you at arrivals, drops your bags at the hotel and the touring starts from there. For scale: Meruorah, down at the marina, is about seven minutes from the airport — the shortest hotel run we do — and even hilltop places like Loccal Collection are only around twelve.
The classic afternoon runs through Batu Cermin, the mirror cave just outside town where a shaft of light hits the rock walls in the late morning, then down through the harbour front, finishing with sunset from Bukit Cinta or the hill by Hotel Sylvia, looking west over the islands you will sail between tomorrow. The full route, stop by stop, is on our Labuan Bajo city tour page. If your flight lands late, the city tour compresses gracefully: keep Batu Cermin and the sunset, drop the rest.
Day 2 — the boat day inside Komodo National Park
This is the day the whole trip is built around, and it is the one day we do not sell. Boats into the national park — shared open trips, private day charters and liveaboards — are the home ground of our parent company. Compare the Komodo open trip and liveaboard departures at Komodo Luxury and book the boat that fits your group and budget; day-trip prices depend on the vessel, so let them quote it directly.
Most day boats call at Padar for the ridge view, a beach stop, a ranger-guided walk among the dragons and a snorkel site or two, and nearly all of them leave early. Our job is the part between your hotel bed and the boat’s check-in: an on-time car, luggage handled, and a driver who already knows which jetty your operator uses. That is the same crew that runs our airport to port transfer, so the timing discipline is built in.
One fee to budget on top of the boat: the Komodo National Park entrance fee is USD 40 per person, paid once per trip — not per day — and if you plan to fly a drone, the drone permit is USD 130, also paid once.
Day 3 — the overland day into the hills
After a day at sea level, day three climbs. The road east of Labuan Bajo lifts you into green Manggarai country within half an hour: Melo village for its hilltop setting and Manggarai culture, then Cunca Wulang, the canyon waterfall reached by a proper walk through farmland and forest. Your driver-guide times the loop to how much walking you want and gets you back to town for sunset or an evening flight.
One honest warning, because we field this question weekly: Wae Rebo does not fit in this itinerary. The famous cone-hut village is four to five hours of mountain driving plus a two-to-three-hour trek, and it is a two-day, one-night arrangement with the overnight spent in the village — around USD 190, with the village donation paid separately. If Wae Rebo is on your list, add two days and read our Wae Rebo tour page before you book flights.
What the three days cost
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Car with English-speaking driver-guide, per touring day (days 1 and 3) | Around USD 95 |
| Komodo National Park entrance fee | USD 40 per person, once per trip |
| Boat day (open trip or private charter) | Quoted by Komodo Luxury per vessel |
| Airport pickup and harbour transfers | Quoted on WhatsApp |
| Wae Rebo 2D1N extension, if added | Around USD 190 + village donation |
Hotels, meals and park extras are on top, and we would rather quote your exact transfers against your flight and hotel than print a vague number here.
The booking order that works
- Lock the boat day first. The departure time anchors everything else, so confirm day 2 with Komodo Luxury before anything.
- Then build the land days around it. Send us your flight number and hotel; we set the pickup, the city tour and the overland day to fit.
- Leave day 3 flexible. If weather shifts the boat day, the overland day swaps in without losing anything.
