Komodo Airport Transfer with Multiple Drop-Offs — One Hiace, Many Hotels, Fair Split

You travel together. Your friends booked AYANA Komodo. You booked Plataran. The third couple booked Meruorah downtown. Three hotels, one Hiace, one driver, one routed drive that hits all three in zone order. $5 per extra stop after the first — far less than three separate bookings.

Trust strip:
– One Toyota Hiace, one driver, multiple hotels in optimal zone order
– $5 surcharge per additional drop after the first — no per-passenger fee
– Routed by zone proximity — no doubling back, no waste
– Fits 1–10 passengers with full luggage for the whole group
– Fixed total price split however you and your friends want

Why a Multi-Drop Transfer Beats Three Separate Bookings

You and your travel group flew in together. You shared a flight, an immigration line, a baggage carousel. Now you need to get to three different hotels. The “obvious” approach is for each pair or family to book their own taxi at the kerb. The actual cost of that approach in Labuan Bajo is steep:

  • Three curb taxi negotiations, three potential overcharge scenarios.
  • Three separate confusing IDR-vs-USD conversations.
  • Three vehicles leaving the airport in slightly different directions, no coordination on who arrives when.
  • The friend at AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach (8.4 km, 18 min) gets there at 17:45. The friend at Meruorah downtown gets there at 17:25. The friend at Plataran (5.5 km, 15 min) gets there at 17:35. The dinner reservation at 19:00 with all three couples becomes uncoordinated.

A pre-booked multi-drop transfer in a single Hiace fixes all of it. One vehicle leaves LBJ. The driver routes by zone proximity — Zone A first if the order makes sense for your group, Zone B in the middle, Zone C last (or any combination based on your priorities). Each couple steps out at their respective hotel lobby with their bags. The total cost is a single Hiace booking plus $5 per additional stop after the first — far less than three separate kerb taxis would charge.

For a typical three-hotel split (AYANA + Plataran + Meruorah), the math comes to: Hiace Zone C base $58 + $5 per extra stop × 2 = $68 total, split however you want among the group. A single AYANA-only kerb taxi can quote $40+. The multi-drop is cheaper than the most expensive of three individual rides — and dramatically cheaper than booking three.

How Our Multi-Drop Service Works

The multi-drop protocol is built around routing logic and group coordination.

  1. You book online or via WhatsApp with all destinations listed in any order. Tell us which travellers are dropping where. We optimise the route by zone proximity.
  2. Routing. The driver receives the assignment with the optimised route. The general principle: drop closer hotels first if you all want to settle in quickly, OR drop further hotels first if your group wants to ride together longer. We confirm the order at booking — your call.
  3. T-90 minutes before landing. Driver pre-positions the Hiace at LBJ.
  4. T-30 minutes. Driver inside the arrivals hall holding a name board with the lead booker’s name.
  5. You all exit immigration. Driver greets the whole group, helps with bags. Hiace boards 1–10 passengers with full luggage for the group.
  6. Drive. First drop, second drop, third drop. Each couple steps out at their lobby with their bags. Driver waits 5 minutes at each hotel for the bell-staff handoff before continuing to the next.
  7. Final drop. The last couple is dropped at their hotel. Total drive time is the longest individual route plus 5–10 minutes for each intermediate stop.

Typical three-hotel split (AYANA + Plataran + Meruorah, in that order from outer to inner): total transit ~50 minutes. If routed Meruorah first, then Plataran, then AYANA: total transit ~55 minutes (slight backtrack). We discuss the trade-off.

Pricing for Multi-Drop Transfers

Pricing is one Hiace booking based on the furthest zone plus $5 per additional drop after the first. The routing pays for itself.

Furthest zone in routeHiace base+ 1 extra stop+ 2 extra stops+ 3 extra stops
Zone A all stops downtown$40$45$50$55
Zone B Plataran or Ta’aktana included$48$53$58$63
Zone C AYANA, Sudamala included$58$63$68$73

Round-trip booking applies the standard 10% discount. Round-trip multi-drop is rare (the group typically returns at different times), but possible if all couples are flying out on the same day.

The total is one invoice. How the group splits it among themselves is up to you — most groups split evenly or by zone-distance proportion. We do not charge per passenger — the price is per vehicle, period.

Vehicle Recommendation for Multi-Drop Routes

The Toyota Hiace Premio is the only vehicle that makes sense for multi-drop. It fits 1–10 passengers in captain seats with armrests, has cargo capacity for 14 large bags (full luggage for three couples or a large family), and the cabin is comfortable enough for a 50-minute three-hotel routing.

The Innova is too small for most multi-drop scenarios — it caps at 6 passengers with limited boot space. A group of three couples (6 adults) plus three sets of luggage is at the absolute limit of an Innova and uncomfortable for the longer drive. We will book Innova for a 2-couple multi-drop (4 passengers, 2 hotels), but Hiace is the default.

The Alphard does not work for multi-drop — it is a 1–4 passenger luxury vehicle, designed for one party, one destination. Multi-drop in an Alphard would mean booking two Alphards, defeating the routing efficiency.

What’s Included in Every Multi-Drop Transfer

  • Toyota Hiace Premio with captain seats and 14-bag cargo
  • One driver, optimised route by zone proximity
  • 5-minute hold at each hotel for bell-staff handoff
  • Climate-controlled cabin throughout the routing
  • Cold bottled Aqua water for all passengers
  • Wi-Fi hotspot for the duration of the drive
  • Coordination with each hotel’s bell-staff for arrival
  • Fixed total price — one invoice, split among the group however you wish
  • $5 per extra drop after the first (no per-passenger surcharge)
  • Free dive-gear hauling if dive groups are part of the routing

Frequently Asked Questions About Multi-Drop Komodo Airport Transfers

Can we have stops at four or five hotels in one route?
Yes. We have run multi-drops with up to 6 stops. After 4 stops, the routing logistics get more complex — we discuss the schedule at booking and may suggest splitting into two Hiace bookings if the group is very large or the geography is awkward (e.g., three Zone C hotels plus two Zone D boat-required hotels would benefit from two separate vehicles).

What if one couple’s flight is delayed and the others aren’t?
The Hiace waits for the entire booked group to clear immigration before departing. If one flight is delayed by an hour, the others wait — that is the trade-off of single-vehicle multi-drop. For groups arriving on different flights, we recommend booking separate transfers (each pair gets their own Innova) or booking the multi-drop only if all flights land within 30 minutes of each other.

How do we split the bill among the group?
Up to you. The booking is one invoice paid by the lead booker. Most groups split evenly — three couples paying ~$23 each on a $68 booking is far cheaper than three separate Innova kerb taxis. Some groups split by zone-distance (the AYANA couple pays a larger share since they are the furthest drop). It is your call — we just send the one invoice.

Are the drop-off hotels notified in advance?
Yes. We notify each hotel’s bell-staff with the ETA so the welcome at each lobby is ready. AYANA, Plataran, and Meruorah all have efficient handoffs once notified. Less-staffed boutiques may take an extra 2–3 minutes for the handoff — included in the 5-minute hold at each stop.

Can we route through a non-hotel stop — like a supermarket or ATM?
Yes. Up to 15 minutes of intermediate stops at supermarkets or ATMs is free. Longer stops are billed as additional waiting time ($5 per 15 minutes). Common requests: stop at Hypermart Bajo for groceries, stop at the BCA ATM near the harbour. Tell us at booking and we route through.

Do you offer multi-drop for the return airport run?
Less common (most groups depart on different days), but yes — same routing logic in reverse, same pricing structure. If the whole group is flying out on the same day, the round-trip 10% discount applies to the combined booking.
